Mid Century 14ct Rose Gold Colour Change Synthetic Sapphire (Corundum) Ring
Correctly named in gemological terms this stone is a synthetic corundum (Sapphire), however often mistakenly called synthetic Alexandrite or just Alexandrite.
“A synthetic colour-change sapphire is a lab-grown sapphire with colour shifting abilities. Colour-changing sapphires generally change from a blue-purple hue to a deeper true violet shade”.
Crafted from 14ct rose gold and set with a large 19 x 13 x 7.5mm or approximately 14ct synthetic colour change sapphire which under artificial lighting is an intense deep violet resembling a dark violet amethyst with pink flashes, and under natural lighting displays a lovely violet with teal undertones and lighter pink flashes.
Six claw set to a pretty scalloped low rise gallery, simple swept up shoulders and a solid half round thank.
These rings were and still are popular given their alluring shift in colour.. they make a quite a spectacular cocktail ring!
