One of the best examples of early Australian jewellery we have had the pleasure of offering for purchase.

Handcrafted of course, in circa 1910 by iconic Australian jeweller and  manufacture Joseph Lawrence (1894-1970’s).  Set with two of the largest Amethysts we have seen in a Lavaliere, both beautifully and securely claw set in simple and refined open style settings.

The central round Amethyst is suspended by its original 9ct gold trace chain with original clasp, and is simply stunning.  Measuring 1.6cm in diameter, beautifully faceted, six claw set, with no visible inclusions.

From this central Amethyst is a suspended knife edge bar measuring 3.5 cm with two dainty foliate panels both set with tiny seed pearls, to the second large and equally beautiful pear shaped Amethyst, five claw set, which measures 2cm x 1.2cm !

The ‘drop’ of the pendant in total is 7cm, to say this piece makes a statement when worn is an under-statement !

This impressive Lavaliere is hallmarked with Joseph Lawrences famous hallmark consisting of a ‘knotted cord’, the cartage ‘9’ and ‘L’ once again for J. Lawrence.

Antique Australian jewellery has becoming so increasingly rare and highly sought after in recent years, and this piece is the perfect example as to why.
