Twice The Charm, One Little Spin!

Rich in colour and beautifully full of character, this gorgeous 9ct rose gold spinner fob dates to Chester, 1901. Featuring a striking forest-green bloodstone flecked with crimson and a beautifully polished, warm terracotta carnelian reverse, the rotating design is complemented by a charming curb-link mount and lovely original hallmarks.

Please note, boxes and chains are for display only unless otherwise stated.

A wonderfully handsome and beautifully preserved Edwardian spinner fob, crafted in warm 9ct rose gold and bearing lovely Chester hallmarks dating to 1901. With its richly coloured gemstones, charming curb-link detailing and beautifully traditional design, this is a particularly gorgeous example of antique jewellery from the turn of the century.

One side features a magnificent rectangular bloodstone, displaying a wonderfully rich, deep forest-green body colour scattered with natural flecks of rusty crimson and brick red. The contrast is especially striking, giving the stone a beautiful depth and character. The reverse reveals a gorgeous polished carnelian, displaying a rich, warm reddish-orange to deep terracotta hue, with a beautifully smooth, lustrous finish. Both stones are neatly enclosed within polished rose gold bezel settings, creating a particularly lovely combination of colour against the warmth of the gold.

The beautifully constructed double-sided fob features a traditional spinner mechanism, allowing the central gemstone section to rotate within its rose gold frame, revealing either stone as desired. The side profile showcases the lovely craftsmanship of the piece, with its neatly fitted swivel mechanism, substantial polished frame and charming rounded suspension detail. Particularly appealing is the decorative curb-link chain mount running across the top, lending the fob a wonderfully handsome, distinctly Edwardian character.

Suspended from a beautifully shaped gold bail, the fob is wonderfully versatile. The bail allows it to be threaded onto a favourite necklace, while a traditional dog clip could easily be attached for wear with a large variety of chains. Equally beautiful worn as a standalone pendant or layered with other treasured antique pieces, it has a wonderfully timeless appeal.

The fob bears beautiful Chester assay hallmarks dating to 1901 along the lower edge, together with an additional '9 375' gold purity stamp to the side. These lovely surviving hallmarks are a particularly pleasing detail, celebrating the piece's genuine Edwardian origins and more than 125 years of history.

A truly gorgeous Edwardian piece, combining richly coloured natural gemstones, beautiful rose gold craftsmanship and all the charm of a jewel that has been treasured for well over a century. A particularly lovely addition to an antique jewellery collection, and one that would look magnificent suspended from a favourite gold chain.

Condition

Presenting in beautiful antique condition, particularly considering its age. The bloodstone is exceptionally well preserved, displaying only the most minuscule flea-bites visible under 10x loupe magnification, with nothing that detracts from its gorgeous appearance. The carnelian is equally lovely, retaining its beautifully smooth, polished finish. The rose gold mount is strong and substantial, with the spinner mechanism neatly constructed and the decorative curb-link suspension retaining its lovely original character. The surviving hallmarks are a wonderful feature, and the fob presents beautifully overall!
