Vintage Australian Sterling Silver Black Opal Doublet Ring Attributed to Rhoda Wager
The design of this ring is very reminiscent of the style by prolific Australian jewellery designer, Rhoda Wager (1921-1946), and the style, if not the ring itself, can be attributed to her.
Several elements point to her distinct design feature … the use of Opal, the double band shank and the use of a vine-and-leaf motif interspersed with tiny berries.
Crafted from Sterling Silver and set with a thin slice of black Opal mounted on a layer of black Opal potch, interestingly the Opal has an intentional scalloped border which is particularly beautiful!
A vivid rolling play of colours including blues, greens yellows, oranges and reds can all be seen and the black drop of the black potch highlights this gorgeous slice of black Opal beautifully.
Please see the Power House Museum link below for info on Rhoda and Dorothy Wager.
