Outstanding Antique Victorian 9ct Tri-Colour Ladies Albertina Tassel Pocket Watch Chain Circa 1880-90

A fine example of Victorian elegance and craftsmanship, this fabulous, full length, ladies Albertina watch chain is in original condition and is longing to be worn and admired once again.
Pieces such as these would have been worn from the bodice to the waist to hold a ladies pocket watch. Today they are highly desired as necklaces given their exquisite workmanship and intricate details.
Crafted from 9ct tri-colour gold, the dog-clip, rope-twist and foxtail chains are in yellow gold, the T-bar in a rosy hued gold, the connecting chains in rose gold, and the superb and highly intricate ‘slider’ and tassel caps are in rose, yellow and silver with floral motifs and silver banding.
The Tassels are glorious.. each features nine foxtail chains, all of which retain their original tiny gold ball ends. The detail to their caps is equally as stunning and is mirrored to the slider and end terminals.
This piece measures end to end - 40.5cm. However to be worn as a necklace it will require the addition of a length of chain (see photos) with an end loop and either a bolt ring or dog-clip - we suggest around 10cm to 20cm depending on your neck circumference, we would suggest a rope-twist or fine cable link, and easy job for any jewellery to fulfill, or perhaps you may already have an extender!
A must-have for the Victorian jewellery connoisseur, these full length examples have become increasingly rare to source in this fine condition.

CONDITION
Very good to excellent antique Victorian condition. Dog clip is strong and works perfectly, no thinning. Tassels are all present, straight and strong, all ball ends present also. ‘Slider’ does not slide - by design - not all do. One tiny reinforcement to one rope twist section, mentioning for accuracy only.
