Huge Retro Sterling Silver ‘Lariat’ By Alfredo Villasana 208.6 Grams Circa 1950

Sale price$1,150.00 AUD

Laybys welcome! Contact Us today to secure your dream piece.
Incredible signed statement piece by Alfredo Villasana Taxco Mexico styled as a Lariat.

Weighing a massive 208.6 grams and measuring an impressive 90cm in length this phenomenal necklace can be styled in so many different ways.

Modelled in intricate rope twist fashion (with a width of 8.5mm) with two matching heavy and spectacular tassels whose caps are finely textured at the tops to a raised textured border to the beautiful fine chain linked tassels!

The tassels from cap to the end of the chains each measure 8cm each and feel lovely against the skin, slinky and tactile.

Now.. this extraordinary piece can be worn in traditional Lariat style with both tassels string next to one another, or.. wear them asymmetrically for an edgier look.  The Lariat comes with a hinged closure to secure the rope twist in what ever position you choose, however it certainly can be worn without as the weight of this necklace / Lariat keeps it in place.

If you neck is around 36-38cm you can also wrap the lariat twice for a shorter look!
Rare, signed by Alfredo Villasana, immaculate in condition this is one not only for the collector but for anyone looking for a versatile statement piece that can take you from day to evening wear, and the best thing? … no-one will have one just like it!

History of Alfredo Villasana

In 1929 William Spratling ( an American architect ) arrived in Mexico and set up a silver-smithing workshop in Taxco Mexico. Employing highly talented and creative Mexican smiths one of whom was Alfredo Villasana.

A Mexican Renaissance jewellery revolution took place in Taxco in the 1930’s after Spratlings arrival as he turned the jewellery industry around by moving away from the European style designs.

Alfredo managed Spratlings workshop for several years then for Hector Aguilar before opening his own shop in the 1950’s.
Known as one of the more collectible Taxconian artists his work is highly prized and commanding  increasingly high prices.
