Antique Victorian Silver ‘Day And Night’ Reversible Locket And Bookchain Collar Necklace Circa 1890
A superb and very wearable Victorian book chain collar and associated locket dating to the late Victorian era.
Designed as a wide sumptuous floral engraved ‘book chain’ which is a lovely wide 2cm, with typical ball end accents, original 1.5cm bolt ring, and suspended below a large ornate opening locket measuring with bale an impressive 5.5cm x 3cm.
Opening to reveal two compartments, one retaining its original rim and a replacement car plastic pane, the other without, and to the front a highly stylised monogram we believe to be ‘AW’, the rear compartment of the locket is plain.
Such a versatile piece which can be worn with the engraved collar and locket to the front, or simply reverse it to wear the plain side showing also! Of course the locket is detachable and the collar can be worn alone too!
A heavy but not too heavy 65 grams total, this piece feels as wonderful as it looks.

Excellent antique condition. The collar is stunning, no repairs, no damage and beautifully engraved. Locket opens and closes perfectly. One rim to one compartment is present with a clear plastic ‘pane’ which would be a replacement, other compartment has no rim or pane. No dents, no repairs to locket. A lovely piece!
