Antique Victorian Rose ‘Gold Cased’ And Carnelian Fob Seal Pendant Circa 1880’s
‘Fleur-de-lis or ‘Fleur-de-lys French for Lily flower is an emblem used in ornamentation and particularly in heraldry long associated with the French crown.
Crafted from ‘gold cased’ - XRF tested as 9ct gold over sterling silver and to the base a Carnelian to which the initial ‘MJ’ are inscribed.
A lovely size at 2.5cm tall and 2.2cm x 1.6cm to the base, with a nice sized top loop to which a good sized chain can be threaded to be worn as a necklace pendant or worn from your favourite split ring or bolt clasp.
Of interest we believe this fob seal was much loved as there is a tiny hairline crack to one carved arm, which, has been lovingly and professionally repaired some time in antiquity with a tiny flat gold plate expertly soldered from behind to secure this section beautifully.

CONDITION
Good antique condition. As noted above there has been a hairline crack to one curved arm which has been brilliantly repaired with a tiny gold plate behind the little split, very secure and lovingly repaired by an ‘old school’ jeweller. No real loss to gold casing, lovely rosy gold patina. Minor marks to Carnelian, no deep scratches or chips.
