Antique Victorian 9ct Rose Gold Opening Double Sided Locket Circa 1890
Please note, chains are for display only unless otherwise stated.
Dating to the late Victorian era this all original double sided opening locket is in excellent condition, a testament to the quality and longevity of fine quality Victorian craftsmanship.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold and designed as a hinged opening locket with two panes, this locket would have been originally used as a photo locket - and can be one again if desired - but can also be used as a ‘shaker’ locket given the depth inside.
Featuring exquisite and deep floral-type chasing to the solid substantial oval frame, and to the original top bale, this locket shows no wear of the ornate patterning and the bale is strong and quite large and will accommodate many chains or dog clips/bolt rings.
Unlike many antique lockets which are difficult to open, this superb example features a strong hinged mechanism and lift up notch to simply open and close with ease!
Measuring a lovely 3.8cm drop from the original top bale x 2.5cm wide, in excellent condition and versatile, this fine example of Victorian craftsmanship is an asset to any serious collectors jewellery wardrobe.
