Antique Victorian 9ct Gold ‘Pique’ Tortoiseshell Torpedo Earrings Circa 1870-80’s
Crafted from tortoiseshell, inlaid by hand, with gold and silver in the finest detail in a cross hatched pattern in gold, and to each hatch a tiny silver quatrefoil motif.
We believe at some stage during their history the ear fittings have been updated to elegant post and butterfly backs… originally shepherds hooks would have been in place, but these fittings work perfectly and suit the proportions of these earrings beautifully.
Dropping an eye catching 4.4cm from the ear and in such fine condition for their approximately 150 years of age, these splendid earrings are just pining to be seen and worn once again.

Very very good antique condition. No losses visible to pique inlay. Fitting would be newer, but vintage, post are straight and firm, butterfly backs are 9ct gold (375) and matching.
