Highly unusual and collectible ‘ancient Ruyi’ symbol ring dating approximately to the 19th century.

We sadly cannot attribute this symbol at this stage (feel free to let us know if you know it!)

What we do know is that originally it was constructed of high carat 22ct gold throughout however some time in antiquity it has been re-shanked with 18ct gold and the demarcation lines can be seen. The engraved section and shoulders are in 22ct gold and are buttery and rich in hue, the shank is more a subtle yellow gold and does not match perfectly, this would’ve been done by a previous owner to save on the high price of such high carat gold.

The shank is of course hidden somewhat once on the finger and the buttery top section is what is seen.

We love this ring as it is, however of course it could be returned to its original state by a working jeweller who could craft a high carat shank once again.

CONDITION

As mentioned this ring has been re-shanked and the demarcation lines can be seen. Engraved pattern to shoulders is worn somewhat and some light wear to top section pattern also. The new(er) shank has no thinning and very solid. Lovely old ring which someone has treasured in the past by restoring it.
