Dating to the late Georgian to early Victorian era circa 1830’s this charming and large locket is styled in a half hunter pocket watch manner with an easy to use hinged mechanism to house a treasured photo or moment.

Crafted in pinchbeck or gold filled material with deep repoussé work to the outer frame and very fine engine turning to the rear (may be 9ct gold, not tested).

Measuring a large 3.8cm round not including the top ‘bow’ (loop at top) which when included gives a lovely drop of 5cm.

Inside is a black fabric which is probably a later addition and has been stuck down, a photo of course can be placed on top.

The original pane does have a shallow sliver chip which is inside and does not extend to the front, not terribly noticeable and completely stable.

This large approximately 180 year old locket has many many years left in her and deserves to be worn and admired again!
