Antique Georgian Gold Cased Quizzing Glass Circa 1830-40
Dating to the Georgian era circa 1830-40 when quizzing glasses reached their peak of popularity, this beautifully proportioned example is perfect to wear on your favourite chain or plush velvet ribbon.
Quizzing lasses served a dual purpose, both as a fashion statement popular during this era, and a functional adornment used to “quiz” people when the occasion demanded, and to magnify when required!
An opulent little example with lush repoussé work to the lens frame and handle, and a fluted plinth to the centre, this symbol of refinement from a bygone era is a lovely addition to any jewellery collection.

Very very good antique condition. Lens is original, magnifies nicely, no chips or deep scratches, only very minor marks. Nicely cased with no losses. Wonderful size to wear on a chain.
