A superb and exquisitely crafted piece by one of our most influential early Australian jewellers, Robert Rollason, this particularly pretty puffed heart pendant is crafted in 9ct rose gold and set with thirty (30) perfectly matched natural half seed Pearls in lovely condition free from replacements or re-glues.

Steeped in romanticism, the heart symbol represents not only romantic love but affection, friendship and devotion, while Pearls are often associated with femininity, wisdom and peace, a perfect combination of symbolism. 

To the verso of the heart we find the double RR, the markers mark for Robert Rollason.  A tiny shallow impression lies to the rear side, noting only for accuracy. 

This piece enjoys the addition of its original foxtail chain, tested as 9ct gold. Measuring a pleasing 45cm in length, perfect for layering your favourite chains and creating an eye-catching #neckmess to your hearts content! 

A gorgeous piece of early Australian jewellery history, pieces of this nature are becoming harder to source in such excellent antique condition, the stunning antique chain is simply bonus!

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition.  All Pearls original, well matched and no re-glues.  No dents, one tiny shallow impression to rear side, noting for accuracy only.  Chain is lovely, no damage, kinks or repairs.  Clasp is tubular push in, strong and substantial, closes very securely.

HISTORY OF ROBERT ROLLASON

Robert Rollason founded his business in 1888 at 112 Kent street Sydney and was to become one of the foremost jewellery manufacturers in Australia.

By 1896 he moved his manufacturing to Castlereagh Street and by 1907 the firm chased their name to Rollason and Co and in 1910 Rollason and Co. Ltd.
Manufacturing a large range of gold and gem set jewellery, vesta and sovereign cases, chains and Albert watch chains the company moved to a larger premises at 112-114 Crown Street in 1922.

Two of their best chain makers Frederick Mountford and Henri Belle both went on to establish their own businesses in Sydney.
