Collectible in their own right pieces of jewellery hallmarked for Assay in Chester are increasingly hard to find, especially superbly crafted and clearly hallmarked examples such as this one.

Crafted in 1905 by Edward Vaughton -  88 Vyse St (formerly of Warstone Lane)  - from 9ct rose gold and chased for the entire circumference with Ivy leaves symbolising love, eternity and fidelity and all of which is held together with another highly symbolic feature of the buckle representing binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring.

Unusual to find Chester rings of this quality and symbolism at the best of times but to find one whose engraving is still crisp and clear for the circumference is so very special.

Wide at 1.17cm at the buckle and 8.57mm thereafter, ever so slightly curved to hug the finger so comfortably this heavy 7.30 grams ring feels and looks substantial on the finger.

Hallmarks for all the above are as crisp and clear as the day they were punched 117 years ago.
