Antique Australian Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold ‘Kewpie’ Charm Pendant Circa 1910
Absolutely adorable antique 9ct rose gold Kewpie dating to around 1910 or thereabouts.
Invented by cartoonist Rosie O’Neill around 1909 and quickly becoming an international sensation including in Australia where this particular example would have been manufactured given the style and type of 9ct marks to the verso.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold which would have been originally fire gilded over the 9ct rose gold in order to give it a buttery matte yellow colour, over the past century this yellow gold has faded slightly giving that lovely rosy yellow hue we all love in antique gold!
Of hollow construction and therefore quite light, however this approximately 110 year old charm/pendant is in very condition with only a couple of shallow impressions to her wee little head.
Googly side glancing eyes, tiny ‘wings’ to her neck, little out splayed fingers are all apparent on this little piece of iconic Australian jewellery and would be a little asset to any jewellery lovers collection.

CONDITION
Very good antique 110 year old condition. Under scrutiny there is a shallow impression to front top of head and one to rear of head also, these absolutely do not distract from this Kewpies beauty. No other issues, fire gilding had faded here and there allowing the rose gold to shine through which looks beautiful.
