Antique Australian Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold ‘Kewpie’ Charm Pendant By A.J. Long And Co. Circa 1910
Absolutely adorable antique 9ct rose gold Kewpie dating to around 1910 or thereabouts.
Invented by cartoonist Rosie O’Neill around 1909 and quickly becoming an international sensation including in Australia where this particular example was manufactured by A. J. Long and Co. of Little Collins Street Melbourne and hallmarked to the verso with his trademark symbol of a ‘Winged Wheel’ and 9ct.
Oh hollow construction and therefore quite light, however this 110 year old charm/pendant is in fine condition with only one superficial impression to the back.
Googly side glancing eyes, neck ribbon and wee little belly button are all apparent on this little piece of iconic Australian jewellery and would be a little asset to any jewellery lovers collection.
