As sought after today as they have been for centuries, Sharks tooth jewellery holds a powerful symbolism regarded as a talisman of protection and power, beloved to protect the wearer from dangers associated with the sea.

This fine example is Australian in manufacture, crafted during the Edwardian era circa 1900, by a little known maker working in Adelaide in the late 19th century to early 20th century - Mr C Piers of Commercial Street / St Vincent Street - Adelaide South Australia. Mr Piers was in business from 1888-1921.

Hallmarked with his name, this particular seller is one we have not had the pleasure of seeing before during our many decades in the business.. such a treat to find a rare example of a lesser known Australian jeweller.

Crafted from 9ct rose gold which has been bloomed to give a rich matt higher gold hue, delicately engraved to the cap and bearing a small cartouche suitable for ones initials if desired.
A dainty proportioned piece measuring a drop of 2.7cm x 1.7cm, bearing its original jump ring, this lovely rare piece of antique Australian jewellery history is a must for the serious collector.
