Antique Australian 18ct Rose Gold Wide Wedding Band Circa 1910-1920
This particularly lovely example is an early Australian piece by one of our lesser known early jewellers, A.B Budgen.
Budgen hailed from Adelaide South Australia, operating between 1908 until his passing in 1939.
Displaying a lovely rosy appearance, this ring is a great stacking companion and in our opinion would make a lovely choice as a wedding band, especially for our clients with tiny slim fingers!
History of A. B. BUDGEN 1908-1939
A. B. Budgen founded one of South Australia’s better known jewellery businesses. He grew up near Adelaide and after learning the watchmaking trade moved to Sydney taking the position of foreman watchmaker with R. B. Orchard.
Later he worked with Angus and Coote. He returned to Adelaide and by 1908 had founded his own business in the Arcade off bundles Street.
Budgen received recognition of this business prowess by winning a gold Medal for his display of jewellery, gems and silverware at the all Australian Exhibition held in Adelaide in 1925.
The jewellery exhibits were mounted in Adelaide and included some notable examples of the jewellers art. Budgen died in Adelaide in 1939.
