Dating to the early 20th century, a quite exceptional piece by Larard Bros one of our finest and early Australian manufacturing, importing and wholesale jewellers.

Constructed from soft hued 9ct rose gold and featuring three South Australian solid white opals all of which are ‘gypsy’ set in six pointed star settings.

At 9mm wide to the front giving a lovely finger spread, and tapering smoothly to 4mm at the rear of shank.

Emitting a soft greenish blue colour play with an almost rainbow pattern or reminiscent of a spectacular sunset, the three high domed round cabochon opals are in lovely condition.

With Larards hallmark, plus W.D. makers mark, and also an original we believe XII mark possibly denoting the year ’1912’.

Very comfortable to wear this ring veritably melts on to the finger.

History of Larad Bros

The firm of Larard and Son was founded in 1874, becoming Larard Bros in 1882 and residing in 42 Little Collins Street Melbourne.

Members of the Victorian M.J.A. from its inception in 1889, their ‘five pointed Star with Bar’ was used in conjunction with the M.J.A. stamps.
