Dating to the Georgian to very early Victorian eras this wonderful ring is the epitome of antique elegance.

Crafted from 15ct rose gold and centred with a large Imperial Topaz - approximately 2.30ct - which is a stunning peachy / orange in hue, known as an ‘Imperial Topaz’ due to its exceptional and unusual colour.

“The term “Imperial Topaz“ is believed to have originated in 19th century Russia, where the Ural Mountains were topaz’s leading source. The rare pink gemstones discovered there were named to honour the Russian Czar, and ownership of these stones was restricted to the royal family.
Gemologists generally use the term Imperial Topaz for pinkish gold to golden yellow-orange hues, the most valuable forms”.

The Topaz is set in typical cut-down setting , foil backed, fashion of the era, and surrounded by a halo of seventeen (17) natural half Pearls also in cut-down settings.
Closed backed to the verso with delicately open worked shoulders and a strong half round shank.

Strongly dichroic (two-colours visible when viewed from different angles), the Topaz display a mesmerising range of hues, pink, peach and a golden glow which needs to be seen to be appreciated!

Manufactured in an era where jewellery was made to shimmer and glow by candlelight this strikingly beautiful ring is a delight to wear, and deserves to be seen, worn and treasured once again.

(Foil backed antique jewellery must never be exposed to or immersed in liquids).
