Antique Art Deco Egyptian Revival Silver And Enamel ‘Mummy’ Pencil Circa 1920-30
Please note, chains are for display only unless otherwise stated.
A exotic and collectible piece of functional jewellery in the form of a ‘Mummy’ or Sarcophagus pendant dating to the Art Deco era.
Crafted from silver testing as 800 grade typical of these pieces, and designed quite unusually as a simple pull out pencil as compared to the oft seen propelling examples.
A much larger than commonly seen piece this fine example measures an impressive 8cm in length by 1.5cm at the widest point and retains its original top ring also.
Resplendent to both front and verso with detailed enamel work and hieroglyphics we cannot decipher!, and a faint hint of a gold wash over, this stunning and usable piece of jewellery still retains a good length of original or at least very old pencil which obviously still writes!
