Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Moss Agate Signet Ring - Birmingham 1977

This handsome 9 carat gold signet ring dates to 1977 and has a wonderful sense of weight and presence on the hand.
Crafted in Birmingham and bearing full UK hallmarks, it is a solid, heavy ring weighing a very pleasing 6.36 grams, with strong smooth shoulders flowing into a wide, thick shank that feels substantial and reassuring when worn.
Set at the centre is a large oval Agate, securely bezel set in gold. The stone is particularly striking, with deep forest‑green tones enlivened by dramatic burnt‑orange and ochre plume‑like inclusions, creating a beautifully natural, almost landscape‑like effect beneath the polished surface. Each glance reveals new depth and character, making the stone completely unique.
The ring also bears the maker’s mark EWN, a registered but currently unattributable mark, typical of smaller workshops of the period.
Designed as a traditional signet, it looks exceptionally handsome on the finger and works equally well worn by men or women, with bold signet styles becoming increasingly popular for women today.

CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition. The Moss Agate shows no chips or nicks, under x 10 loupe magnification only minuscule marks, this agate is basically eye clean, smooth and a glassy finish. Gold is very substantial, thick and solid, no repairs or damages. Hallmarks very crisp and clear. No issues to note!
