A combination of old and new.. this fabulous antique book chain, and charming vintage (antique style) locket appear as if they were made for one another!
The book chain is antique, crafted from Sterling Silver, and features stunning ‘star’ punches to each round motif, and a full circumference of tiny ball detailing. Measuring a very pleasing 43.5cm in length (including the bolt ring) this one skims the collar bones beautifully. Securing with a 1.2cm round bolt ring, which suspends the locket.
This charming locket is fully hallmarked for Joseph Smith & Sons (Birmingham) Ltd Vittoria Street Birmingham, and is in the antique ‘Arts & Crafts’ style, however it is date letter stamped for assay in Birmingham 1976. A large size at 5cm x 3cm including the top V shaped bale.
The front locket panel features a Swallow or Robbin in full flight and in 9ct rose gold, to an engraved background of foliate design. Opening to reveal two photo locket compartments which have retained both its original rims and one clear plastic pane.
The perfect combo… these two were meant for one another!

CONDITION
Very good antique and preowned condition. There is one tiny link reinforcement/repair to the outer links of the book chain, this is almost imperceptible and cannot be seen at all when worn, no other issues, damage or repairs with any links. All ‘balls’ present. Locket opens and closes with a pleasing snap, very secure, easy to open and close. No dents, minor marks and one very shallow impression to verso only. Both internal rims are present, one with clear plastic pane, the other without. Hallmarks to verso clear and crisp. No the rises to note.
