This magnificent antique Victorian Sterling Silver locket and book chain is a true statement piece of 19th-century craftsmanship, steeped in history and elegance. Fully hallmarked (to the locket) for manufacture by renowned silversmiths Constantine & Floyd, assay in Birmingham and date letter stamped for 1882.

The large oval locket, measuring 6 cm x 3.5 cm -including the bale -  is an impressive example of Victorian design. It opens to reveal two interior compartments, one still retaining its original glass pane and rim—perfect for preserving cherished keepsakes or portraits. The front is beautifully decorated with intricate floral and leaf motifs, highlighted with delicate rose and yellow gold accents that bring warmth and contrast to the sterling silver.

Equally eye-catching is the substantial book chain which measures a stunning 2.1 cm wide. One side is richly engraved with floral detailing, making it as decorative as it is bold. The chain retains its original Sterling silver bolt rings, allowing for adjustment of length and wear - 42cm to 45cm. Together, the chain and locket weigh an impressive 75.8 grams, giving the piece a luxurious and substantial feel.

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition.  There are no repairs to book -chain, a heavy and well made example.  Bolt rings both work perfectly. The locket is lovely, very very minor impression to rear panel only.  Locket opens and closes with a snap.  One compartment retains its original glass pane and rim.. in excellent condition, the other does not have its rim of glass.  No repairs or damages.  Superb.
