Presenting an immaculate, antique Edwardian era, 15ct yellow gold Amethyst and seed half Pearl Lavaliere with its original 15ct gold chain.

“A lavaliere, or lavallière is a style of necklace consisting of a pendant, with or without gemstones, centered from a necklace, which is attached directly to the chain, not by a bail. Popularised by the Duchess de la Valliére, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France”.

This exceptionally fine example is in pristine condition, one could say in ‘unworn’ condition, and features atop a garland style ‘bow’ set with natural half seed Pearls, to the main articulated drop of circular open form with a round faceted Amethyst of approx 0.30ct, to a stunning floral spray of further half seed Pearls, and suspended below a further pear-cut Amethyst (0.60ct) which dances with every movement.

The chain is as stunning as the pendant component, is original and attached to the garland top bow, and secures perfectly with its original 15ct tubular clasp.

Measuring a very pleasing 42cm neck circumference which sits elegantly skims the collar bones.

As pristine as the day it was lovingly made over 110 years ago, this piece deserves to be seen, worn and treasured once again.

Fun fact - “A lavallière is also called a pussycat bow, which is a style of neckwear worn with women’s blouses and bodices.  It’s is a bow tied at the neck (from fabric) which has been likened to those sometimes put on ‘pussy cats’!
