Antique 18ct Yellow Gold Old Mine-Cut Diamond Bangle Circa 1901-1915
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
This exquisite antique bangle is a true treasure from the Edwardian era, crafted between 1901 and 1915 — a time celebrated for its refined elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. Crafted from rich and lush 18-carat yellow gold, the piece has been beautifully **bloomed in a higher carat gold, giving it a warm, luxurious glow that radiates with a golden beauty.
A Masterpiece of Edwardian Design: Designed as an oval hinged bangle, it features its original box clasp and safety chain — both in excellent working order. The front of the bangle is adorned with thirteen old Mine-cut diamonds, each securely set in its own square-shaped mount. Together, the diamonds total approximately 0.86 carats, their soft, romantic fire perfectly complementing the golden hue of the setting.
Each diamond is held by four finely crafted bead claws, all in pristine condition, ensuring the stones are safe and secure for generations to come.
Exquisite Craftsmanship: The gallery of the bangle is intricately engraved with ornate scrolling detail, a hallmark of Edwardian artistry. This delicate engraving ensures the bangle is visually captivating from every angle.
Exceptional Diamond Quality: The diamonds themselves are in beautiful condition, free from chips or abrasions, and display very good colour and clarity. Their lively sparkle catches the light effortlessly, making this piece stunning on the wrist and a joy to wear.
A Collector’s Dream: This bangle is not only a piece of fine jewellery but also a piece of history — a rare example of Edwardian luxury that has stood the test of time. It would make a magnificent addition to any serious collection, or a truly memorable Christmas gift for someone special.
Elegant, refined, and full of character, this antique diamond bangle is a celebration of craftsmanship and beauty — a piece to be cherished for a lifetime.
WHAT IS BLOOMING
Blooming was a finishing technique popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, used to enhance the appearance of gold jewellery. It involved applying a thin layer of higher-carat gold to the surface of a piece made from lower-carat gold. This process gave the jewellery a richer, deeper yellow hue and a luxurious matte finish, highlighting engraved details and craftsmanship. Blooming was especially favoured for fine pieces, as it created the illusion of pure, high-carat gold while maintaining the strength and durability of 18-carat construction underneath.
