Stunning Antique Victorian 15ct (and 9ct) Yellow Gold Garnet And Opal Ring Circa 1870-1890
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
This breathtaking Antique Victorian Almandine garnet and opal ring is a true gem from the late 19th century, dating between 1870 and 1890—a golden era of romantic and intricate jewellery design.
Crafted with thoughtful ingenuity, the band is made from durable 9-carat yellow gold for everyday strength and longevity, while the ornate top mount gleams in richer 15-carat yellow gold, creating a warm, luxurious glow that feels both authentic and original to the piece.
At its heart sits a magnificent round-faceted Almandine garnet - 1.6ct - deep and velvety plum red, securely held by an eight-claw setting that showcases its fiery intensity. Flanking this central beauty are two luminous cabochon-cut opals, each claw-set and dancing with ethereal flashes of colour—soft blues, greens, and pinks that play magically in the light.
The mount is a masterpiece of Victorian artistry: delicate ribbon-like scrolls and flourishes weave around the stones, extending into gracefully ornate shoulders that taper elegantly to the band.
With its low, comfortable profile, this ring sits beautifully on the finger, offering effortless wear while making a bold yet feminine statement—spreading a charming 1.6 cm across and 1.1 cm at its widest point.
In remarkable condition for its 135+ years, with vibrant gems free from damage and craftsmanship as pristine as the day it was made, this ring is more than jewellery—it’s a conversation starter, a head-turner that draws endless compliments wherever it goes.
Imagine the joy of slipping it on: the rich crimson garnet paired with the opals’ iridescent magic against glowing gold, evoking timeless romance and quiet luxury.
A rare and enchanting Victorian treasure, destined to be cherished daily and passed down as a beloved heirloom. This one doesn’t just adorn your hand—it captures hearts.
