Antique Victorian Gold Cased Banded Agate And Pearl Brooch Circa 1880’s
This exquisite antique brooch captures the elegance and romance of the late Victorian era, dating from the 1880s to 1890s.
Crafted in a traditional - and quite typical for the era - gold-cased setting, it showcases a striking large round banded agate—a natural gemstone with rich, swirling brown tones that evoke warmth and depth.
At its heart lies a delicate daisy motif, formed from six natural half seed pearls, each one original and beautifully set to create a soft, luminous contrast against the agate’s earthy hues.
The ornate gold border is finely detailed with scrolling patterns and decorative claws that securely hold the stone in place, reflecting the refined craftsmanship of the period.
The reverse retains its original pin and C-clasp, both in excellent condition with no repairs—an impressive testament to its preservation over more than a century.

CONDITION
Very good to excellent antique condition. This is a gold-cased piece, well made, solid and strong with very little wear to the gold casing. The ‘claws’ show the tiniest hint of loss, this is insignificant and commensurate with the age of this piece seen only under scrutiny. The agate is lovely, no splits, abrasions or dulling. The Pearls are all original, no re-glueing, well set and secure with no nacre loss. Original strong pin and C clasp with no repairs, opens and closes securely. Charming!
