Antique Edwardian Australian 15ct Yellow Gold Solid Opal Half Hoop Ring - Circa 1900-1910
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
This beautiful handcrafted antique ring captures the romance of the Edwardian era and the unmistakable magic of Australian Opal. Rich in history yet wonderfully wearable, it is a piece that feels both timeless and deeply personal, with a warmth and character that can only come from true antique jewellery.
Crafted in Australia during the Edwardian period, circa 1900–1910, this exquisite half hoop ring is set in glowing 15 carat yellow gold and showcases a perfectly graduated row of solid Australian Opals.
Each Opal was carefully hand chosen by the original jeweller to complement the next, creating a seamless and harmonious flow across the finger in the traditional half hoop style.
The Opals are oval cabochon cut and alive with enchanting play of colour. Soft pinks and gentle lavenders melt into cool blues and lush greens, while flashes of yellow, warm orange, and delicate pink‑red tones dance across the surface as the ring catches the light. Every stone is vibrant and full of life, ensuring that no two glances at this ring are ever quite the same!
There is approximately 1.50 carats of solid Opal in total, with the central stone weighing around 0.70 carats, giving the ring beautiful presence without feeling heavy on the hand. The condition is outstanding: the Opals are free from chips, all claws are original and hold the stones securely, and the workmanship remains crisp and refined.
A traditional carved and scrolled gallery, so typical of the Edwardian era, adds a further touch of elegance when viewed from every angle. The shank is solid, thick, and reassuringly strong, showing no signs of thinning, which is remarkable for a ring that is now well over 110 years old.
Equally stunning worn on its own or paired with a plain wedding band or a diamond‑set ring, this Opal half hoop sits beautifully alongside other favourites while still holding its own as a statement piece.
A truly exceptional antique Opal ring—rich in history, alive with colour, and ready to be loved for generations to come!.
