This superb antique Victorian pendant-brooch, crafted circa 1890, is a true jewel of its era — now over 130 years old and still in remarkable original condition.

Crafted in 15ct yellow gold and silver mountings for the diamonds typical of the era, it showcases the elegance and versatility so prized in late 19th-century jewellery, designed to be worn both as a brooch and as a pendant.

The ornate openwork design is large, measuring a drop of 5.7cm x 4.5cm, and is set with 66 rose-cut diamonds of varying sizes, totalling approximately 1.00ct, their soft sparkle beautifully contrasted by 19 natural calibre-cut blue sapphires.  The Sapphires add a rich depth of colour, while the diamonds lend a delicate shimmer that catches the light with every movement.

To the reverse, a tubular pin and clasp ensures security when worn as a brooch, while two discreet S type loops at the top allow a fine chain or ribbon to be threaded through, transforming it into a striking pendant.
This dual functionality — both practical and symbolic of Victorian ingenuity — makes it a highly desirable piece for collectors and lovers of antique jewellery alike.

A rare survivor of the Victorian era, this jewel remains completely original with no repairs or damages, an extraordinary testament to its craftsmanship and care over more than a century. Elegant, versatile, and steeped in history, it is a statement piece that embodies the romance and artistry of the late 19th century.
