Antique Australian Platinum / 18ct White Gold Emerald And Diamond Ring Circa 1920’s-30’s
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
This exquisite antique early Australian ring by William Drummond, is crafted in platinum and 18ct white gold, dating to the Art Deco era (circa 1920s-1930s). Featuring a vibrant, natural Colombian emerald as its centrepiece, measuring approximately 6.2mm x 5.3mm x 3.3mm and weighing 0.90ct, the ring exudes quality craftsmanship.
The Emerald, in stunning condition with no chips or abrasions, is securely set in solid Platinum claws, showcasing its rich green hue. Flanking the Emerald are six diamonds: four old mine-cut stones (approximately 2.6mm-2.9mm, 0.06ct each) with their charmingly irregular shapes, and two early round brilliant-cut diamonds (2.2mm, 0.04ct each), resulting in a total of 0.32ct. All the diamonds are firmly held by original Platinum claws which are in superb condition.
The ring’s low-rise design spreads beautifully across the finger at 1.7cm east to west, offering a lovely, understated appearance perfect for daily wear (always with care, of course), or special occasions.
Weighing 3.5 grams, it is marked “W D and Co” for renowned early Australian jeweller William Drummond, and “18ct & Plat,” Measuring a finger size O 1/2 (17.7mm diameter, US 7 1/2), it can be resized up or down 2-3 sizes by a competent jeweller.
In very good to excellent antique condition, the ring shows no thinning, repairs, or prior resizes to the shank, and all settings remain secure. This stunning piece, with its vibrant Emerald and sparkling diamonds, is a rare and charming example of early Australian Art Deco jewellery, perfect for collectors or those seeking a unique, heirloom-quality ring.
