This gorgeous early Australian 15ct rose gold ring is set with a round faceted early man-made ruby first invented by Auguste Verneuil in 1902.  This Ruby is the most intense vidid and thickly saturated red!

Bezel set in rub over style to a low rise open work gallery, set simply and elegantly with tapered shoulders to a nice solid and comfortable D shape shank.
Stamped with the early example of the 15ct mark and a makers mark we can’t quite identify.  Undoubtedly  Australian and pre 1932 given the 15ct stamp.

History of Ruby

In the late 1800s, Ruby became the first gem to be created in a laboratory by Auguste Verneuil. In 1902, he announced the development of his flame-fusion process for synthesising this beautiful gem. (http://www.gia.edu)

Synthetic rubies (also known as created, cultured, or lab-grown rubies) are created through an artificial process that usually involves high temperature and pressure. From a chemical standpoint, lab-created rubies are no different from natural ones and are considered real rubies.
