Antique Australian 9ct Rose Gold Double Albert Watch Chain Circa 1920

Originally double Alberts or fob watch chains as they were also known, were worn by gentleman across their vests and designed to hold their pocket watches’.  These days they make quite the prefect necklace!

Superb 9ct rose gold double Albert chain crafted from 9ct gold in non-graduated curb-link style.

The original sliding double chains are attached to a large round jump ring to which the T-bar measuring 3.8cm is attached and an engraved medallion with the initials in olde script ‘FED’ which was presented to and inscribed to the back for a Tennis competition in 1922.

This example measures a pleasing 42cm which sits just on or around the collar bones.  A 6cm length of ‘newer’ curb-link chain has been added to extend what would have been a 36cm Albert chain which is commonly done to enable these antique chains to be worn around the neck.

The added chain is a very very good match, has been added professionally at some point in history and can be seen under scrutiny only.

Stamped with ‘9’ to many of the curb-links, T-bar and both dog clips which are matching, original,  and in very secure working order.

In superb condition with no thinning to any component, rosy 9ct in hue, heavy without being uncomfortable around the neck this chain should last you a life time.

42cm End to end
T-bar 3.8cm
Medallion 3.3cm x 2.2cm
42.06 Grams
‘9’ to many curblinks
‘9C’ to T-bar
‘9C’ to both dog-clips - matching and original
‘9Ct’ to shield medallion
Fully tested via XRF as 9ct
Very very good antique condition.  Dog clips, T-bar and sliding jump ring and both drop chains are original.  We believe the shield medallion is also original although it could have been added at a slightly late date.  As mentioned above a ‘newer’ 6cm length of curblink has been added to allow this one to be the length it is at 42cm.  It is very hard to discern and matches very well.   Gorgeous and very wearable chain with no thinning between links or other components.
