Superb 9ct rose gold sword styled ‘Jabot’ pin featuring seven half pearls and three blue Garnet topped doublets.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold throughout with gold gliding to the rear and hints still to the front giving this piece that ‘ye olde’ finish that only antique pieces achieve.
‘A jabot pin is a brooch with gems and or pearls set to each end, quite often in ‘arrow’ or ‘sword’ style. Their origins began in the mid 1600’s and were used by men to secure the ruffled/lacy pieces of fabric worn at the front of their shirts. Becoming very popular once again in the early 20 century and set then with diamonds, pearls, sapphires etc.’
Today these versatile pieces can be worn almost anywhere you desire and can also be very easily converted to a horizontal pendant with the addition of a chain as there are the two original loops to the verso holding the original trace chain.
We have even see these Jabots’ worn as a very exotic earring threaded from a piercing high on the ear and treaded to the lower piercing in the lobe!
