Quite an amazing and stunningly beautiful little 9ct rose gold framed Scarab faience charm dating from we believe to be from the third Neo-Egyptian revival period.  However it is also quite possible this piece may date to the mid to late 1800’s.

‘The first Neo-Egyptian period was brought about by Napoleon's journey to Egypt (circa 1805-1810).  The second revival was caused by the opening of the Suez Canal  (circa 1870) and the third was initiated by the discovery of King Tut-Ankh-Amun’s tomb (circa 1922)’.

Measuring a cute 1.8cm x 1.2cm x 6.4 deep not including the two little jump rings attached, prefect to wear on a charm bracelet or a fine necklace chain.

Charming little beetle from to the front and to the rear a series of hieroglyphs. (Let us know if you know what they mean!)

CONDITION
Very good antique condition.  No damage, chips to scarab.  Scarab moves slightly in frame but this would be normal as to not damage or chip scarab, it is secure.  Jump rings appear original, unsealed and we would recommend having your jeweller seal them or add a larger ring once you decide what you would like to wear this cutie on.
